Help signing in

How to get into Pathways, the Calvary Christian College SET plan portal, and what to do if you can't. Once you're signed in, the Help link at the top of every page has a full guide for students, parents and staff.

Signing in

How to sign in

Use the button for the account the school gave you. Pathways never asks you to make a new password.

  1. Go to the Pathways sign-in page.
  2. Press the button for your kind of account. Students and staff use their school account. Parents and guardians use the option the school told them to use, which is shown as its own button.
  3. Sign in with your account provider as you normally do. If it asks for a second step, such as a code or an approval on your phone, complete it.
  4. You come back to Pathways, signed in, on the page for your role: students to their plan, parents to their family, advisors to the cohort.
Pathways doesn't store your password. It's checked by your account provider, and Pathways is told only that it was you.

Pathways works in Safari and iOS 16.4 or later, Chrome and Edge 111 or later, and Firefox 128 or later. JavaScript must be on.

Your first time

Your Pathways account is made by the school, and your first sign-in connects it to you.

  • Students and parents don't sign up. The school creates your account from its student records. You can sign in once the school has your account, so if you've never been able to, ask the Pathways & Careers office.
  • The first sign-in matches you by email address. For a parent or guardian, that is the address the school holds for you. If you sign in with a different one, Pathways can't find you: tell the office which address you'd like used.
  • After the first time, Pathways recognises you by your sign-in, not your email address, so changing your email at your provider doesn't change who you are in Pathways.
  • Staff are given access in the school's directory: ask your administrator if you're refused.

How long you stay signed in

After a while without activity, or a long day, you're signed out for your own safety.

Pathways signs you out after about 60 minutes without activity, and after about 10 hours however busy you are. Your school can change those limits. You can be signed in on up to 5 devices; a new sign-in beyond that signs out the oldest.

  • Use the menu with your name (top right) to Sign out, especially on a shared or school computer.
  • Sign out on all devices in that menu ends every session you have, on every device. Use it if you lost a phone or left yourself signed in somewhere.
  • If you're signed out while filling in a student's plan, your answers stay on the page. Sign in again in a new tab and come back: they save by themselves.

If it doesn't work

“We couldn't sign you in”

A short message that names no reason, so here are the usual ones.

For your safety Pathways gives a short message that names no reason, so it doesn't tell a stranger anything about who has an account. There are two for everybody: We couldn't sign you in. Start again from the sign-in page. (the sign-in was interrupted or took too long: start again) and You can't sign in with this account (the school has no matching account, or it is switched off: contact the Pathways & Careers office; trying again won't help). Staff may also be asked to complete multi-factor sign-in. The school can see the real reason. The usual ones:

I pressed the button and came back to an error.
Go back to the sign-in page and start again. A sign-in is only good in the browser it started in, and for about ten minutes, so opening the link later, or in another browser, won't work.
It says I can't sign in with this account, and I've never signed in before.
The school may not have your account yet, or holds a different email address for you. Trying again won't help: ask the Pathways & Careers office.
It worked before, and now it doesn't.
Your account may have been switched off (for example after a student leaves), or your sign-in at your provider changed. Ask the office; for staff, ask your administrator.
It loops back to the sign-in page.
Check your browser accepts cookies for this site and isn't blocking them, and try a private window. Make sure the date and time on your device are right.
The page is blank, or says Pathways needs JavaScript.
Switch JavaScript on and use Safari and iOS 16.4 or later, Chrome and Edge 111 or later, and Firefox 128 or later.
I'm a parent and can't see my child.
Once you're signed in, the page says *No students linked to your account yet* if the school hasn't linked you. Contact the Pathways & Careers office.
I forgot my password.
Pathways doesn't hold it. Use your account provider's own *forgot password* option, or ask your school's IT team.

Tip

Still stuck? Contact the Pathways & Careers office at the school. Tell them which button you pressed and what you saw, but never your password or any code.

Administrators: when single sign-on is down

A separate password-and-code sign-in exists for administrators in emergencies.

If you're an administrator who has been given a local account, the sign-in page has a Local sign-in link for when the usual way is not working. It needs your email address, your password and a code from your authenticator app, and it can be limited to the school's network. See the administrator guide once you're in.

First time on a local account

You're given a one-time password. Use it to sign in, choose your own password, scan the QR code shown with your authenticator app (or type the key under it), and enter its code. You're then shown recovery codes, once: keep them safe, as each works once if you lose your authenticator.

Worth knowing

5 wrong answers in a row lock the account for 15 minutes, and longer if it happens again. When email is switched on, the super administrators are told when a local account signs in or is locked.

Keeping your account safe

Keeping your account safe

A few habits that protect you and your family's information.

  • Check the address. Pathways is the address your school gave you. Don't sign in from a link in a message you weren't expecting.
  • Never share your password, or any code or recovery code, with anyone, including school staff. Nobody from the school or Pathways will ask for them.
  • Sign out on shared computers.
  • Each person has their own account: please don't share one. Signatures record who signed.
Pathways keeps a tamper-evident record of who signs in and who looks at student information. It never records what a student wrote.
